Hey, they finally got back to me! :)
Thank you for your email suggesting the renaming of the suburb of
Collingwood. Whilst the suggested name may be considered more patriotic,
the process of changing suburb or street names impacts hugely on every
resident and property owner, in the requirement to have addresses
amended with every organisation/person with which/whom they communicate.
Based upon previous experience, this requirement is not usually well
accepted by people at large. Also, the name Collingwood has much history
to many people, none-the-least being followers of a well known Football
Club.
Having regard to the above, the Council prefers not to pursue the
suggestion at this point. Thank you however for your interest and taking
the time to present the suggestion.
