Trainer/Choreographer/Fight Sequencer Announced

Quiet on the old Art front lately, tho Bethany's Coburg Lake project seems to be taking off with the announcement today that Akean Lewinski has been confirmed as her trainer.

Here's what the artist had to say:

"For the life of me I could not come up with a plot for my Coburg Lake project & have decided to make the art equivalent of an ACTION FILM. It involves guns and firecrackers and Chuck Norris round house kicks and flaming hoops. There is absolutely no plot."

"Mr Lewinski was the natural choice, we really enjoyed working with each other on Bethany J. Fellows V. Helen Hunt. The training for this project will be less athletic and more a series of controlled stress situations. I am very excited and feel safe in Akean's hands."

Plotless art, how postmodern?! And there are rumours that you are going to branded with red hot steel?

"I am prepared to do this, yes."

Make Sound Art Melodic

Newcastle's This is Not Art Festival, known for its socially irrelevant discordant sounds, recieved a loud and clear message from Bethany J Fellows after her petition to "Make Sound Art Melodic" managed to gather six pages of carefully penned names. The support from festival goers was overhelming and featured many high profile names from the general public and also TINAs directors.

Mary Kostakidis Lamington Action

Bethany J Fellows presented a small Lamington Action in Fed Square on September 8th in response to Mary Kostakidis' departure from SBS Television. Positioned in front of the SBS building the artist offered free lamingtons & badges emblazoned with Mary's face. Public support for news reader Mary Kostakidis was overwhelming, the general consensus being that she was very much loved by the community and also thought to be very attractive. People also really like free lamingtons. Security asked Bethany to leave Fed square on two occasions despite their lust for lamingtons, the stall eventually finding a safe haven in front of St. Paul's Cathedral on Swanston St.

Why Lamingtons?

"I thought they were the most succinct symbol to represent both Australian Values and Mary Kostakidis"

HOT DOG ACTION

The Artist staged a small action on Sunday 26th of August. Witnessed by a small entourage, she fed the local warehouse guard dogs concealed by the veil of night.

Pia K. Niebel issued a statement earlier today in broken English as she was busily editing the Artist's funding video in South Melbourne.

"I feel very honoured, very honoured, tremendously honoured, that I was chosen to fulfil this task. And I do not accept any payment or any other form of exchange than to recieve the magical and unearthly gaumenschmaus prepared by the Artist herself. I can't wait to get home."

Fitness Regime & Performance

A quick rough edit done for the Moreland Leader. A longer & better version will be up at the end of the month.

The performance went for about 20 minutes & the soundtrack is available for downloading to the right.

The Artist sends her thanks to all who helped her throughout the Helen Hunt Fitness Regime & lead up to the performance, especially Colin, Pia, Rudi & her trainer Akean Lewinsky.

Breaking statement from the Artist:

"...Now (that) the pictures are up I'm just gonna focus on my routine, protein shakes, stock answers for the media, and the logistics of transporting 97 tacos to town."

And when asked about the possibility of rain on Thursday:

"I'm trying not to think about it. A light sprinkle will be fine but we do have a wet weather plan."

Helen Hunt Fitness Regime outfit complete!

Such careful stitches & well placed felt. The much anticipated Helen Hunt Fitness Regime starts Sunday June 3rd. Tho clearly excited, the Artist has voiced concerns that she is worried how her ankles will hold up.

"I have weak ankles, it's true. I usually practice low impact sports, mainly cycling. Honestly I don't think I was meant to be a land creature but we'll see how we go. Master Lewinski has designed a program specific to my needs, but we'll be strapping my feet anyway. We'll take the jumping jacks slowly".

Please note: no real exercise is actually taking place in this unplanned photo shoot. The Helen Hunt Fitness Regime starts Sunday June 3rd.

Helen Hunt Fitness Regime

The Artist brings word that her Helen Hunt Fitness Regime outfit is well underway. Shortly she will embark on a rigorous training program to get her in shape for her major performance later this year. She will be trained by well known Wing Chun master Akean Lewinski. Bethany J Fellows and trainer will be filmed during the process and ultimately featured in a larger video work.

PUBLIC NOTICE - AUDITIONS

The Artist Bethany J Fellows announces open auditions for new friends.

friend (noun)
1. A person whom one knows well, likes, and trusts: amigo, brother,chum, confidante, familiar, intimate, crony, mate, pal, buddy, sidekick.

Applicants will need to write a brief character breakdown and outline previous experience. A photo will not be necessary as the audition procedure will be filmed. The Artist will be auditioning people one at a time and the process will most likely vary for each individual. Please allow plenty of time and wear something you are comfortable in and does not restrict movement (preferably non-flammable).

Please note: If you are already one of The Artist’s friends you are not eligible to apply unless you would like to apply for a different position to one you already hold, eg you regularly exchange pleasantries when you see Bethany on the street but would like to be re-cast as “best friend”.

This is a voluntary platonic position. No one will be paid. Bethany J Fellows encourages the fusion of diverse cultures and new forms of performing art.

Hippies and those with a penchant for gypsy music need not apply.

Salsa?

Bethany J Fellows staged a small performance on the 9th of May in response to her burgeoning Work for the Dole status and Ash Keating's rival performance a block away. Dressed as a giant taco she sat on Swanston street's notorious begging strip for four hours. She earned $9.55. Some kids bought her some corn chips. No one had any salsa.

The performance was filmed by Samuel Indratma and in watching the rough cut seemed altogether more hilarious than the actual event. This will hopefully be available online soon.
The artist was also approached to be in a play at La MaMa theatre but who knows if anything will come of this. Sam got the director's number.
She was photographed numerous times.

Britney Spears Vigil

Bethany J Fellows presented this Britney Spears vigil on March 3rd in response to Britney's concerning behaviour. Staged in front of Forepaw on High St, Northcote's premier art venue, it was a fantastic success and overall raised general awareness about and support for Britney. We lit candles, held hands and prayed whilst listening to a selection of Britney's songs recorded in 'better' times.

Another vigil was staged a week or so later at Alia in Collingwood. A man shaved his head in solidarity, more candles were lit & there was dancing!
